how AutoCAD drawing is linked with CNC machines

While speaking with a person,who has done, diploma in mechanical engineering,I came to know that,the drawings or designs made in AutoCAD software,when fed into a CNC machine,that has a laser cutter,would give the output as well defined perfectly proportioned parts which can then be weilded to for machines
