When the Russian president recently visited India,somewhere at the back of the mind,I felt the optics weren't right, since at that time, Russia was/is accused of preparing to invade Ukraine,why India is encouraging this receiving Russian president. In paper, India being a souverign nation can receive any head of state as per the planned itinery and schedule,which could have been prepared,well in advance,but still,the perception of the actions could be taken quite otherwise in various quarters. The area of arms purchase has huge implications in bringing employment to huge workforce, naturally every country would try to get huge contracts to keep the factories running ang feed the workers. At least previously, India had an image of a non aligned nation, but in the present situation, every transaction that is made could be analysed from various angles. I felt , perception management also needs to be done at the national or international level.
